Victory

So i questioned whether or not to post this, but i was just so perfect. I will let you bask in all of its glory.
Yah... that happened... fanny pack on the Franz Joseph glacier.

It was a little awkward for two reasons. One, i had to ask markus to take the picture. The second reason being there were 3 or 4 helicopters flying overhead constantly with tourists taking pictures. Oh well, guess some Japanese tourists got more than they bargained for.

The last few days have been a mix between cloudy/ rainy weather, but we've managed to get a few nice days. We killed the battery at one of the glaciers but managed to find some jumper cables and a person willing to come out to the glacier on the middle of a holiday weekend to jump our car. Greymouth, NZ (there was a creepy guy standing in there when i took this shot)

So when there is an hour patch of good weather we run around on some trails try to take some pictures and make the most of our time out of the van. We found a vine and did the Tarzan thing... the other tourists walking by on the path were pretty entertained.

We spent a couple days at the glaciers and then headed down to Wanaka, one of the prettier towns we've been in. All the mountains surrounding the area are kissed with snow and in the valleys are bright blue lakes. Not bad. I could live somewhere like this.

Yah, we were bored.

Lake ? south of Wanaka, NZ (palms and snow, good combo)

The sunset from the pass overlooking Queenstown, NZ
We are in Queenstown now, Markus is going to do a 134 meter bungy jump, i will hopefully find a cheap way to do some mountain biking while i'm here. Our car died again this morning (we didn't leave the lights on). We camped where this picture was taken, and it got really cold (below freezing). Note to self, rent a manual so you can pip the clutch. I wasn't too keen on trying to roll start a minivan down a mountain pass.

Well i am getting hungry, and if we're going to take advantage of the good weather outside i better go. I love you all. 19 days until i get back to the states!

Mom... what do you think about having a feast when i get back... a feast... without canned spaghetti??? Sound good?

Sweet, Nate. It's been really fun to read about what you're up to over there, and the pictures are absolutely stunning. I simply can't imagine getting a giant black thumb stuck up my butt. Hope your last couple of weeks are more of the same and that you get home safely. I'm sitting in Seattle right now - been here since Sunday and I fly out for Norway on Monday, the 29th. So we'll miss each other, but keep in touch and God bless.
